Modbus Enthalpy Sensor monitors of Temperature, Relative Humidity and Pressure. Based on the those values ANDRFFT/R-MD/S is computing the Enthalpy It’s suitable for various kinds of HVAC Manufacturers that need to understand Enthalpy values in Air Treatment processes.
A sensor that computes enthalpy can help fine-tune HVAC operations by providing real-time data on energy transfer, leading to more accurate control of heating, cooling, and ventilation. This means better energy efficiency, lower costs, and a more comfortable environment, all while reducing wear and tear on the system.
In addition to Enthalpy measurement the sensor also measures the Density of Moist Air and the Dew Point.
Additional options for sensor ANDRFFT/R-MD/S (surcharges):
- passive potentiometer,
- active potentiometer,
- relay,
- Additional possible sensors: VOC sensor (ppm) and / or CO2 sensor (ppm),
- Additional option: presence detection – “in-room presence” radius 5m from sensor,
- LED indicator or LCD display for measured values – temperature, humidity (optional CO2 or VOC).
Alternative active sensor versions:
- Indoor Combination Sensor for Relative Humidity and Temperature ANDRFFT/R-X/S. (Not measuring Enthalpy!)
What is enthalpy and why do we measure it?
Enthalpy is a measure of the total energy in a system, including both the internal energy and the energy required to make room for it by displacing its environment. We measure it because it helps us understand the energy dynamics within HVAC systems, ensuring they operate efficiently and effectively.
Typical HVAC Applications:
In HVAC systems, enthalpy is crucial for optimizing energy usage during heating and cooling. For example, it helps in controlling the mix of indoor and outdoor air to achieve the desired temperature efficiently. It’s also key in assessing the performance of heat exchangers, ensuring they transfer energy as intended. Additionally, monitoring enthalpy is vital in managing dehumidification processes, making sure that air is conditioned properly without wasting energy.
